A brief intro to Chinese New Year

Did you know that Chinese New Year is about to be celebrated at the end of this month? You may not be very aware of this holiday, but it is celebrated by 1/5 of the population in the world; mainly in China, Hong Kong and Macao, followed by nine other countries around Asia and the Chinatowns around the world. So yeah, it’s a pretty big holiday 😀

Let us brief you on this traditional and colorful holiday from the other side of the globe. Chinese New Year, also known as “Spring Festival” in China; in the year 2017 will be celebrated on January 28th and 29th. It follows the Chinese Lunar Calendar, which is why the date changes every year. It usually falls between January 21st and February 20th, and it continues for 15 days until it ends with the Lantern Festival. 2017 is the year of the rooster according to the Chinese Zodiac Years.

This holiday is as important for the already mentioned Asian countries, as Christmas is for the western countries.
